Religion Of Peace????

UK? 21st century? Men in sheets and flipflops carrying big daggers? If you're ok with this, don't forget to thank one of the lefty, liberal luvvies on here or your local Con/Lab/Uni MP.
Why would you think that any left leaning person, or an MP would be involved in two men carrying knives?

it's diversiddy, innit!
It's nothing to do with Islam. Apparently it's a cultural tradition for Yemeni men. just like it's a tradition for Scottish men, when in traditional dress, but nothing to do with religion.
Currently only Sikhs and Scottish Highlanders are legally allowed to wear a knife as part of their culture.

It was probably an extreme right winger that turned up to the Henry Novak protest armed with an offensive weapon, his actions can't be blamed on all right wingers or politicians.

They're not in Yemen. That's not what we do here. When in Rome and all that.

It's sensitivity turned up to stupid allowing them to carry weapons that are illegal for everyone else to carry.

As far as I know there are 0 recorded stabbings by a kilt-wearing Scotsman. But I'm sure they'd be happy with a rubber knife if that's what we decide is a sensible way of allowing cultural symbols.

Did you not read my post?

Educate yourself:

Neither are people allowed to carry offensive weapons to protests.

A knife is not fundamentally very different to a gun. It's a weapon, to kill people. Nobody else can routinely carry either, for very good reason.

If Scots have a history of stabbing people then ban them too.

Knives should only be carried by people who have a justifiable reason to carry one, as is already the case and the law for those who don't belong to one of these specific tribes, reigions or whatever. A useful knife is usually for work, which neatly excludes the non-working trash class from carrying them.

I don't see the problem.

I think it was an obvious stunt following the Novak case. They should not have escaped with words of advice.

Not true.

A knife is fundamentally different to a gun - a hand gun is designed purely to kill or injure. I use knives daily.
Yes, because you work. Which gives you a legal justification to carry one.

If you worked in an office then you'd be breaking the law by carrying one, unless you had a specific reason to carry one at that moment.

None of the above applies to some religions, they can and are expected to carry them, with no other justification needed. You really have to worry about a religion that expects its followers to need weapons at all times.

Do they not have knives in the canteen or office kitchen? I'm pretty sure they don't have the odd ballistic handgun lying around to knock a nail or two in.

As I have shown to Ivor, knives ARE fundamentally different to handguns.

Time these lawful excuses for national costume and religion were looked at.

I would not mind if they banned the Burqa. Hideous garment.
