One or two shootings result in banning guns for everyone, moans MBK.
Then MBK wants ceremonial knives banned for everyone because one, (not a ceremonial knife) was used as a murder weapon. :rolleyes:

simply applying the same logic.

anyone getting special treatment/exemption because of religious belief is hard to justify.

The strong instinct is to ban them, but this is an isolated incident not a Hungerford, and access to knives by the mad and or bad will continue. The inquiry will shed light on the contribution the polices actions made towards this poor young mans death.

For someone who has blocked him for years you seem to have good current knowledge of what he is posting. Your inflammatory thread title is entitled to reasoned contrary views is it not? Right wing posters on GD vastly outweigh the reasoned centre ground posters.
 
For me, they should be restricted to symbolic knives. The law needs tightening.

If we have people charged with offensive weapons crimes for carry a dog lead, then we need to close this right to carry knives.

As blup suggests, weapon yearning by potential psychos will collect and potentially use any appropriate weapon.
Maybe we could/should licence such collectors, or insist they are deactivated, or made harmless., (the weapons, not the collectors. :giggle:)

While I wouldn't naturally disagree with your tightening of the law, context is everything. Who carries a dog lead, (and no dog) to a potentially violent protest? :rolleyes:

If your sport is shooting, its a little hard with a deactivated gun.

they seem to be ready to plead guilty. I'm not convinced a jury would find them so.
