Loud near-drilling sound was coming from my boiler the other morning after switching it on. Was still able to get heating and hot water during this. Later on that evening, switched boiler on again and there wasn't a chirp out of it and hearing/hot water again fine.
Next morning I was back to square one, however. Called out BG engineer who diagnosed it was the gas valve to blame..He searched for a part (within the parameters if BG) and told me it's obsolete (admittedly it is an old boiler) and new boiler time.
I am guessing that there is no option.for the valve to be examined and repaired or does it always come down to a replacement?
I am in the process of contacting local private gas engineers to see if they can source a part from any of their merchant anyway.
