Worked out what special tool you need to protect the rim yet?
As I said in #101, my current car has tyre pressure sensors installed in the valves (works very well). Tyre fitters don't mention changing them, but I don't suppose the seal into the rim is any less likely to leak than conventional valves.

My tyres last 10+ years. Getting ripped a new valve is not something that enters my mind. If this thread succeeds, they will rip me no more. In all my tyre buying, the price was all inclusive. So, I never felt ripped because by the time I go for it, I would be happy with the price already.

I would definitely confirm this using my latest china acquisition. But bummer, it had a leak. Unless the accurate measurement is read quickly, it is lost. Having just taken it apart, I regret being hasty and giving the seller a bad score. The leak was probably from the parts not being tightened down adequately. Will verify this tomorrow. If failing, I may have to spray it with soapy water or dunk it in a bowl of water to identify which part.
