I remember a Tex Mex restaurant which I think was called Chaplins. Hull was pretty exotic food wise in the mid 80s.

yes it had a big statue of chaplin outside of it

I know himm well as he lived a couple of doors down our street. I just assumed funerals was big business as he had bought a new porche 4X4 for his wife along with a brand new camper van for himself. A brand new for pick up truck for his son and a Tesla for his daughter. I can now see how. I used to walk with him some nights with his dogs when I took ours out. He was a really nice bloke.

The camper van is always the giveaway

Not sure tbh, some big names there in that picture so it is possible. Stan Mcewan I think he played for blackpool. Just found this on him

I quite like the sound of Hull, although to be fair I spent most of my life in Slough.

I have the wifes relatives in Hull. Went to a wedding with a reception in a large pub. I was driving a top of the range Omega (I know) in those days. Went in and sat down and the relatives said where did you leave your car, I said in the car park, they told me it would be up on bricks by now and suggested we took it back to their house for safety. Then asked how we would get home as taxis wouldn't go to the locality of the pub after dark. I spent the next 3 hours looking out the window keeping an eye on my car
