plagiarism is plagiarism regardless to your colour, race etc. he is guilty as charged so what difference does his colour make?

Yes., almost certainly, it is very difficult for organisations like Oxbridge to reflect ethnicity when the country has such crap state education. I would bring back grammar schools or even more selective schools to hot house the brightest pupils.

That doesn't benefit society much. What we need is those that get failed by education to get something that helps them. Too many youngsters (often boys) leave school with almost noting and are set for low paid life long jobs.
He's guilty of embellishment and BS from what I've read.
He can probably get his PhD converted to a BA in creative writing
But many become successful businesses despite not because of their education. Burnam is onto to something when he talks up more technical training. I was fortunate to be a naturally good reader but to be dyslexic in an education system based on reading and writing must be hellish.

Certainly some do.
Its not a new thing, but anything that can give a person a path to learning that is not - give up and try to get a job is a good thing.
it is and it doesn't stop there. For some however, the extra attention they have to pay, can mean they pick up on things others miss.

the problem with any form of research is there is a risk of unintentional plagiarism. You read 100s of articles, books etc. have discussions, and formulate opinions, and then write your own work up, and some of what you say is obviously influenced by what you have studied - that is the whole point really. With AI tools now, it is probably easier to determine when somebody's work might have been influenced by anothers, and without reference.
If the same level of scrutiny was applied to every research paper ever written, similar patterns would probably emerge.

I think there is racism going on here, if he had not been black the vetting would have been more thorough and he wouldn't have got the job in the first place. - I guess the university was just trying to tick one of those inclusion boxes.
