I don't really care that much. It's distasteful but there's bigger issues in the world. Spending more money on regulating slaughter houses to ensure proper conditions is lower on my list than addressing water quality.

My interest in this is trying to understand why other people care and why so many in this thread seem to focus on Halal rather than the crueler Kosher process.

Because its done more, higher percentage, if it was the other way round that would be focused on more.

Not really, non-stun Halal is something you can fix relatively easily. Require it to all be stunned, it's allowed under Halal codes, they just don't need to do it.

Non stun Kosher is impossible. It's the rule that means you can't block Halal non-stun.
