First post so please bear with me. Boiler is not firing up at all. I can hear the fan and see it sparking but nothing else is happening. It will light for a moment and then goes out so there must be gas there.

Any ideas as to what the problem is guys.

William

It probably needs a proper service by a competent CORGI engineer.

When was it last properly serviced?

It sounds like pilot is partially blocked, does it spark and pilot comes on,but no main burners or do they come on but only low and go off

Had this recently.
Dodgy circuit board is known to cause this problem. Also, sluggish fan.

I think the only other thing is no 2 solenoid or the flame detection sensor that will allow it to come to full flame, might be dirty

So it ould be a blocked pilot jet or dirty flame sensor but a service won't do jack sh*t. What do you do on a service then?

thanks for the replies.

I can get a flame and then it goes straight out.

It was serviced about 10months ago

Does it relit straight away after going out and continue lighting then goig straight out or do you have to leave it for a while before it will light again

C'mon guys this is basic stuff.

Boiler lights and after a few mins goes out? Obviously, getting up to temp too quickly then stat cutting out the main burner. Water aint flowing round the circuit..

William - check that your pump is working and isnt stuck. Remove the centre screw. A little water will flow out and see if it is spinning. Feel the pipe for a way after the pump. It should be hot, if not its your pump thats at fault, if it is then suspect a faulty motorised valve.

Undercover if it`s that basic tell us how a pilot lighting for a moment overheats a boiler.
Would go firstly for a partially blocked pilot injector as gas valve lifts to let main gas on it robs pilot of gas dropping it, then back to relight again

from what i'm reading, the main burner is lighting up for a while before going out. That leads me to believe that the pilot assembly is OK and rectification is taking place.

Hopefully the guy who serviced it 10mths ago didn't just read the paper, but cleaned the pilot assembly and checked the electrode and lead.

Try reading what it says,,, it sparks but does nothing else it will light for a moment then goes out..... This does not mention main burner or indicate main burner in my eyes and if it was overheating the boiler has a manual reset over heat stat
