how close does the earth clamp need to be to my taps - I've boxed the bath in and don't want to crack a new tile but I can access my metal pipes from below the floor or through a partition wall with less hassle

As long as it is done under the bath I can see no problems with distance.

I assume you are a fan of the Fifth Element?

Thanks Dave.

Way over my head with the Fifth Element.

I can crawl under my floor and get right below the bath or the pipes branch in the void behind the bath panel and go through a stud partition wall into my kitchen and can be accessed under/behind a kitchen unit. In both cases I can get within a metre - all copper pipes. Thinking about my last bathroom the connections were at floor level so about 500mm from the taps.
I messed up rushing my panel tiling and am just looking for an easy out !

all the pipes should be supplementary-bonded where they enter the bathroom. Having been bonded at entry, they do not need to be bonded again.

thanks JohnD,

Does the void below the floor count as the bathroom ? (Ground floor bathroom - pipes run between floor boards and solum)
I can access the entire area below the bathroom up to where the pipes go up through the floor boards.

Thanks again JohnD,

My pipes run from the supply and enter the bathroom area at one end and run the length @3.5m to below the bath, then up through the floor wherethey branch to the bath taps one way and through the wall to the kitchen sink the other. They also branch under the floor for the bathroom sink and toilet.

Should I earth just as the pipes first enter under the bathroom or directly under the toilet, sink and bath as the pipes go up through the floor ?

I understand I don't really need to do the kitchen sink.

Many thanks JohnD,

You've been a great help and it looks like my lovely tiled panel will survive for a while yet.

Printing now whatdo Iknow.

Superb - I shall use this in conjunction with JohnDs advice to save me from the wrath of my missus !

Thanks to all.
