I'm in the middle of fitting a bath suite and there is a tap I dont know what position it needs to be in, its located above my cws but is after the feed to the cws so I cannot see what it would isolate, it goes into the loft where i have noticed a small looks to be sealed box in insulation, can anyone advise me if this tap should be on/off and what it does??? many thanks

Err! No.

You need to trace it back if you want to know, and you da man dere!

Could be anything. Could be redundant. He needs to trace it back, no point us guessing.

Supply pipe to Central Htg feed and expansion tank, perhaps?

It does go into the loft to a small sealed tank covered with insulation, which then seems to go back down, if it is going to the small tank in the loft (ctrl htg expansion tank) would the tap need to be turned on or off??

cheers

If tank is still in use it needs to be open, if tank is redundant, i.e. you have a combi boiler, shut it or remove pipe as far back as poss and cap off. In any event needs further investigation to suss out!

Keith.
