Quick motor question...

Just a quickie, got a motor I need to build into a panel, its only small, but not sure which rating I should be looking at. It says Absorbed power 3.5W and Useable motor power is 0.98W. Which is the one I need to use to calculate my FLC? Thanks.

Just found this on RS which is pretty much the same motor as Im dealing with, RS have the rating as 0.98W...

I would work with the actual motor rating as that will give your running current.

Lets say it is 0.98W FLC thats 4mA, trouble is I cant find a fuse this small to use as overload protection. Smallest I can find is 125mA quick blow, but my guess is this is much too big and damage will already have been done to the motor by this stage, unless you have any other ideas?

Can you overload an ac synchronous motor? Not sure, but I thought that if you stall them, the starting current is much the same as the running current.

Use the higher figure for your calcs being as it is the power taken by the motor. The lower figure is the useful work the motor can provide.

Thanks all, so dont you need to worry about overloading AC syncronus motors, as blondini mentions?

You could stick a suitable meter on it and see what it draws as you load it up.
