    Gas supply to new hob

Well, thanks to all who've posted here, its been a learning experience for me. Main lesson learnt is that next time I'll just go ahead and do whatever it is I'm thinking of doing without attempting to get any advice. I bet the qualified people who responded by saying "just call a gas...

    Gas supply to new hob

Thanks for such a helpful post Dan, you're really adding value on the forum. As per my original post I'm putting THE PIPE in now; the rangecooker and connection will be when funds allow. I don't know what year this will be let alone what time.

    Gas supply to new hob

If I can find someone who can pop in at 2am which is most likely when I'll be doing the floor I'll be lucky ;)

    Gas supply to new hob

A proper answer thankyou. Obviously its up the individual installer at the time, but if I take pictures of the pipe I've put in (and its done correctly) do you think they're likely to be OK with using it (I'm pretty sure I can use one piece of pipe without any joins as its only a shortish...

    Gas supply to new hob

Gee what a really helpful post kirkgas, but please don't waste your valuable time again. I simply want to know what type of pipe to lay, and when the time comes, I will use a properly qualified engineer to hook things up. Useful answers appreciated, unhelpful not.

    Gas supply to new hob

Thanks for the very quick reply. Yes, that would be ideal however I only ever get the chance to do work in the late evenings and am not around during the days so will probably struggle to find an engineer who can just pop in when I want them! Answers to my questions would really be...

    Gas supply to new hob

Hi all, The current project in my ongoing renovation is to replace the kitchen floors. I'm putting hot water underfloor heating in with tiles over the top. When funds allow, I want to put a gas rangecooker in to replace the current electric cooker. Since there's no gas supply to the...

Recommendations for a heating system redesign?

Yep, my first thought was to just put a pump in, but I really want to get rid of the tank in the ceiling too (200yo house which isn't liking heavy things in roof) The house is in Much Hadham, looking do to work in early June...

Recommendations for a heating system redesign?

Hi all, Looking for a bit of advice please... My current central heating & hot water is a conventional set up (ie header tank up in the roof and hot water cylinder in the cupboard) with an Ideal ICOS M3080 boiler about 10 years old which works fine. The shower is a rubbish electric...

Long thin kitchen extractor for front of chimney breast

Good idea, will look for a less expensive version ;)

Long thin kitchen extractor for front of chimney breast

The opening for the cooker is in the corner of the room (the chimney breast sits diagonally in a corner) one side external, one internal - I was strongly recommended not to drill a hole in the chimney in either direction. Off the top of my head the height above the cooker is about 700mm...

Long thin kitchen extractor for front of chimney breast

Hi, I'm refurbishing a kitchen in a listed building and will be putting a range cooker into an old chimney breast. The chimney has been comprehensively sealed so I can't extract up it (even if you were allowed to), and my architect and builder both recon the chimney is already shaky enough...
