Thanks for the advice - I experimented a bit and found 10% dilution (about single cream as you suggested) was enough to keep a wet edge and moved the drying time from c.5mins to about 30 mins, easily long enough to work on it. Cheers for the help Dave

Thanks for that - did you go all the way to 50:50 dilution for your mist coat onto supermatt, or something a little less liquid?

Our 6-yr old house is (I think - we're not the 1st owner) painted with supermatt. It's certainly got the supermatt properties - i.e. very matt finish, washes off with a sponge! I'm redecorating (with dulux trade diamond matt emulsion which is a little runnier than the normal vinyl matt) but...

thanks for the responses - I've gone for almond white eggshell in the end (Dulux trade) and have been very impressed with the finish, just the right level of sheen

I'm planning to repaint my woodwork including skirting boards. I'd like a semi-gloss/low gloss/eggshell effect (rather than shiny full gloss look). I'd also like an off-white cream/beige colour rather than bright white. So, my question is, what is the toughest type of gloss paint to use...

Hi all, I've moved into a new house which has ornate coving in some rooms. I'm planning to repaint, but what advice to folks have for avoid pooling/dripping etc. from all the fiddly bits of the coving? I'm planning to use matt emulsion - haven't selected colour yet, but probably white or...
