hehe that would be a good idea, except that I'm married - no such thing as romance any more! They might solve the other regular bathroom related problem she causes though :D

Seal two pipes through hole in the bath...

lol thanks for the support guys! I'm very aware how crap it is, but as I said I had to get the shower plumbed in sharp. May box it in with some uPVC or some such. I took a picture for your amusement, will post tomorrow.

Seal two pipes through hole in the bath...

Hello all. So, I had a very short time to get a shower plumbed in. I couldn't sink the pipes behind the wall because the genius that boarded the room out didn't batten it off despite my asking them to. In any case I ended up cutting a hole through the tap end of the acrylic bath, and...

Best solution for an INDOORS pattern imprinted concrete....

ahh I see! It seems what I (and my family) have been referring to as lino is infact cushion floor. Is this a common mistake? I've never heard of cushionfloor before. The surface is just like this: http://www.patternimprintedconcrete.com/gallery/driveways/0004_100_0370.jpg.html To be...

Best solution for an INDOORS pattern imprinted concrete....

Hello boys and girls. So I left my dad alone for 2 weeks during the refurb of a house which was to be rented out (and I've since bought for myself), and during these two weeks he was convinced by a rather dodgy bloke that it was a good idea to put down a pattern imprinted concrete floor - in...

CH pump blowing fuse after working fine for ages

cheers Matt, will have a goosey. Fitted a new pump today, when I finally got access to the old one I wired it in correctly (took pics, will upload - was horrific!). After rewiring it didn't pop the fuse but didn't seem to be shifting the water either and was getting very hot before the water...

CH pump blowing fuse after working fine for ages

Sorry matt my question was a bit ambiguous - I was unaware that a cap was used in control of the pump - what is its purpose in this case? This is new info to me is what I'm getting at, and i'm intruiged :)

CH pump blowing fuse after working fine for ages

not aware of any leak but this can be checked when I lift the board. matt1e - where is there a cap in the circuit? Also, your theory matched mine ref the limited current - I was thinking along the lines of maybe not all strands touching the head thereby limiting surface area cross section...

    am i right?

Don't forget Venturi showers - best DIY job I've ever done, it replaced a cheapo mixer shower (non-thermostatic) connected to mains cold and gravity hot.....by a professional plumber who didn't see fit to mention the fact that it would be more or less unuseable!

CH pump blowing fuse after working fine for ages

Thanks for the replies guys, pretty much what I thought really. However, having nipped to ASDA to stock up on 3amp fuses, I've discovered this. If I touch the switched live to the pump onto the screw head at the top of the terminal, the pump *seems* to run fine, certainly it makes a sound which...

CH pump blowing fuse after working fine for ages

Hi all. So this morning I got up to discover CH/HW was inop, discovered the 2 amp fuse in the wiring centre had popped. Purchased 2 more and replaced one in the hope it was a random thing. Went out, came back this evening to find it again gone. Put the other spare 2 amp in, to find out what...

Well and truly blocked sewer in 1912 house...

@Dextrous - never worked with underground pipes before, how much of a p**s about is it? Already have a pressure washer so maybe if I get one of these drain jets that might keep on top of it... thanks for the info :) @Burnerman - Indeed it is! At first I thought it was just swilling around...

Well and truly blocked sewer in 1912 house...

Hi - first of all, it cleared! It turns out repeated pummeling with only the rod end shifted it, must have been quite far long though as it took 13 rods to reach it. No others were affected. I have only 1 inspection cover / chamber between my house and the sewer. Having looked at the...
