Hinge detached from mirrored cabinet door

Hi there, I have an inbuilt bathroom cabinet / shelving with a mirrored door. When I opened it the other day, the bottom hinge detached from the mirror. The other two are quite secure but also the door appears to have dropped slightly since. I’m unsure how best to reattach it. I think I will...

    Cracks in conservatory upvc

Hi there - our conservatory is around 15 years old, we have lived in the house for 4. Just noticed that there are some small cracks in two places inside the conservatory, where three pieces meet in the roof. Don’t think I have noticed these before. What might be causing this? And is it something...

    Creative ideas needed!

Hi there, I am a total plumbing novice but the situation is this: we are looking at designs for a new kitchen. Currently there is a radiator along one wall which was kept when the kitchen was last redone about 15 years ago. It its underneath a worktop as you can see in the photos. Ideally we...

    Picture hanging question

Hi there, I have a very basic question. Bought some frames which have attachments on the back which appear to be completely stuck. Have seen a few videos about hanging picture wire but unsure about this as the frames are so shallow. Have not done this before. Not deep enough to just hang with...

No hot water but central heating ok, any advice?

Hi Chris, thanks for that. If that’s the case, where exactly is this valve - in the boiler or near tank? Is this quite common? Thanks

No hot water but central heating ok, any advice?

Hi there We have a 3 year old Worcester Bosch greenstar r18i condensing boiler, which has been fine since we had it installed, and in fact was only serviced about 6 weeks ago. Over the last week we have noticed that when having a shower the water struggles to get hot, and on a few occasions...

Streak on wall - how to cover?

Yes it is. tried painting a very dark purple over it a few times, then white and then the new wall colour again, and it’s still showing through. Can’t be certain that the wall is completely flat but can see the streak face on, not just from a side as if the light was reflecting for example

Dents in laminate flooring - how to fill in

Hi, we have wooden laminate flooring downstairs which the previous owners laid. It’s not been fitted well but for now we aren’t looking to replace as the flooring runs through 3 rooms so would be very expensive. However there are some dents throughout which I would like to fill in if possible -...

Streak on wall - how to cover?

Hi there I’m doing up my living room at the moment. Sanded down ok and I have applied the first coat of Valspar emulsion. It’s a fairly light colour (milk and honey) but after the first coat and a few extra coats over this patch, there is a light streak approx 5cm wide all the way down to the...

Small cracks above and below windows

Hi there We have some very thin cracks above and below some of the windows in our house (1980s). Tried to fill one a few weeks ago and then painted one coat so far but the crack has reappeared - see photo. What is the best way to deal with these? Thanks

    Replacement lock

Hi John, Thanks for the info - I’ve taken it out and measured - see photos. Looks like 2.5 inch width, and 45mm from keyhole. The key itself says Legge on one side and H42 on other. Do these measurements all point to one particular type of lock? Thanks
