    Christmas tree lights

Yes I have been reading the thread, That's why I responded. Have you??? As I said, same thing happened to me!!!!! More than 1 bulb can go, it is a simple matter of them being bashed about whilst you are trying to untangle the mess. But all that aside. What the hell is the point of...

    Christmas tree lights

Sounds to me like more than 1 bulb has gone in the last set. I had the same trouble yesterday. Simple to resolve. (ONLY FOR LOW VOLTAGE SETS) Light the set in steady lit state. Remove a working bulb away from the suspect set. Remove each bulb from the suspect set one at a time and...

    Wickes 160 Bar Pressure Washer

Just had a flyer through the door from Wickes advertising a (upto) 50% off sale. What caught my eye was a 160Bar Pressure washer at half price being sold for £99. Anyone got any experience of wickes own brand stuff, or even better, this particular pressure washer. The only Wickes own...

    Wireless ?

No it doesn't. A casual hacker would not be able to connect to the router without the correct key. Obviously, nothing is 100% secure (not even RSA!) but when you consider that at the end of some monumental hacking the end result would be access to your ADSL link, then the actual threat pales...

    iiyama vision pro

Sounds to me like your monitor may well be on the way out. Re the flickering, the Standard for PAL in the UK is a refresh rate of 50hz or 100hz for the newer stuff. I would suggest that your borrowed camcorder is recording at a refresh rate of 100hz which is why you don't get a flicker at...

How do you connect LV under cupboard lights

Just wondering how you guys do this... I am in the process of installing some under cupboard lights and have so far done the following. I have lifted the boards upstairs and run some 1.5 Twin & Earth through to the top of the cupboard, and also run some between the switch and the cupboard...

To MOD the mad deleter of questions

This seems to have gone off topic somewhat. DIYnot: Given the tone of your earlier posts to this topic, you seem to imply that posts requesting costs should be OK so long as people understand the basis upon which they given. So may I suggest a rewording of Rule 9 to: This would...

To MOD the mad deleter of questions

I agree with all of you tradesman about quotes for Jobs.... But, that isn't what people are asking on here. None of the posts are requesting anyone to provide a quote or requesting you to do a job for them. The main reason people ask about costs is to get an idea of how much to expect...

To MOD the mad deleter of questions

Oh well, get ready to shoot the newbie.... but I thought this was a DIY forum. So therefore when someone asked a question relating to a price, they are seeking to share the combined empirical knowledge of other DIY'ers. Much in the same way as when someone visits a friend who has just had a...

possible to safely join cable in plaster?

The advice I received was not to use tape. It degrades and should not be part of a permanent joint. When I did mine, I crimped the cable, (make sure you use a proper ratchet crimper) and used heatshrink sleeving. Oh, and put the sleeving on the cable before you crimp!!! Merv
