New build timber barn without brick course

Hi guys, had a roof repair on a large shed, which turned into a new shed on the old concrete base. Slate roof, fitted some used bi folds etc. So it's been a much bigger project than anticipated and its a waste to use it all purely as a shed. One thing that had me concerened from start was no...

    Poly sheet inside shed walls?

I think this is what I'm going to do on the backwall. Just do the job properly. If I use the tyvek am I ok keeping with the feather edge board?

    Poly sheet inside shed walls?

Yes I heard the original was better but hard to find! Painting the back wall could be an idea. To be honest I am thinking about ripping the back wall cladding off, putting tyvek on, then recladding. Its more likely to be watertight with a membrane underneath? I'm already fitting polystyrene as...

    Poly sheet inside shed walls?

the overlap was tanalized from new (some of its old) and it was just coated with creo-cote. Even after this, one wall (with worst of weather) gets wet patches after heavy rain... Ventilation wise well it's really not very air tight! However I did fit a large extractor fan on a humditiy control...

    Poly sheet inside shed walls?

Yes I brought 50m of Tyvek originally, but returned it as I don't think it should be used on the inside of the wall. I put up guttering, and I dug a french drain along the back wall. As you say it's the driving rain on one wall which soaks it, and then I end up with 90% humidity as it evaporates...

    Poly sheet inside shed walls?

Yes the shed was built before I was even born I believe! Also I made a typo its overlap cladding, even worse. Annoying about the poly sheet, I'd hoped I could fit it to the worst wall to stop water ingress. Perhaps I'd be better to pull of all the cladding and start again.

    Poly sheet inside shed walls?

Hi all. Trying to lower the humidity in a large old overlap shed. Back wall takes a real battering from the elements and even after weather coating it, it can get quite wet. I have concreted the floor. I planned to tyvek the inside (can't redo the outside yet to big a job), however I've read...

    Portable Homebase AC

Hello all, recently put in a seocnd hand homebase 253797 which has been working fine. Today it wouldn't turn on displayed E1 message. I did a "hard" reset, it goes into a boot procedure, the relays click constantly, the fan and compressor kick in for a second, then die and it repeats. I've...

    Basic shed lining

ok so I'm with you on better ventilation. Any recommendations - it's quite a large shed something like 5mx6m are a few basic vents enough? I don't really want to cut the roof open after all the time fixding leaks :-). And on the original question, any suggestions to walls re/ damp proofing? thanks

    Basic shed lining

thanks for reply...yes was thinking vents but it has so many gaps around id guess it's pretty ventilated! A little way from supermarket, can never have enough tinned tomatoes :-) cladding does look a bit of a mess looking at the back

    Basic shed lining

Hi all, first sorry I'm not much of a builder - electrical mostly. Right I'm on a mission to improve my large damp shed on a budget, make it more of a work space without everything rusting over. I have now concreted the floor, and run a french drain. Guttering fixed. Dehumdifier running...

    Help with damp shed ideas?

on that note I've just been looking at EPDM single sheet. The felt has had 1000 patchworks done on it and it's never good. However the roof is not at all flat anymore so going to have to see if this is an issue with EPDM. The shed slightly leaned but has now been secured and no one wants to...

    Help with damp shed ideas?

Hello all, forgive me I'm a novice in terms of building. Have a large 5x6m shed. Using it more but very damp (92% just measured apparently). Leading to quick rusting etc. Decided I should look at what options I have. Unfortunately it's not something I can spend thousands on. It's not a premade...

Halfords Tool Chest - Advanced vs Regular?

Hi All, needing to stock up on some car tools and thought I should buy a cabinet, not being a pro mechanic I'm needing something alright, but not wanting to spend thousands. I have a halfords trade card. Being the industrial / pro range has gone in favour of advanced, has anyone compared the...

    RCD Trip - Dead Short?

I think I've actually narrowed it down...I think the first socket I tested was the first point in the ring, and the dodgy cable is running behind kitchen cupboards, behind a structural beam, plastered into ceiling, into attic, then to the CCU so pretty much the worst cable in the house to need...
