I've just realised the high point should be vented into the top of the cold water tank. Problem solved.

The pipework out of the top of the hot cylinder travels develops an air lock each night after the emersion heater has done its stuff. If i run the hot tap for a while it does get flushed out but there must be a better way of doing this. I was thinking of venting the high point of the hot...
