The pipework out of the top of the hot cylinder travels develops an air lock each night after the emersion heater has done its stuff.

If i run the hot tap for a while it does get flushed out but there must be a better way of doing this.

I was thinking of venting the high point of the hot water system into the cold tank. If i do this though is there a one way valve available to stop cold water entering the hot water pipe work.

I need to sort this out because my gravity fed shower mixer on the bath doesn't work properly until the air has been flushed out every morning.

Any bright ideas?

I've just realised the high point should be vented into the top of the cold water tank. Problem solved.
