    Help it's cold!

Flue sticks out at right angles on kitchen wall about 3m from a 8m high wall. It's possible some sleety snow could blow into it but not much and I think it turned itself off after it stopped snowing today. If it is that is there anything I can do? Also just remembered I dusted the top of the...

    Help it's cold!

Does anyone have any ideas why my boiler turns itself off when it snows? We have a Potterton Profile 40e most of the time it's brilliant, but when it snows (not very often in Brighton) it doesn't like it and it turns off. Had it serviced 2 years ago and it didn't do it last winter, but today...

    Noisy radiators- balancing

The TRVs aren't noisy themselves. More of loud gushing gurgling as these two radiators get hot. The valves are drayton TRV4s (bi-directional) from plumbers merchant. Turning lockshields both fully off then turning on 1/4 turn at time (now about 1 full turn on) has definately helped, butI wasn't...

    Noisy radiators- balancing

I have 2 of my radiators changed for more powerful ones as the old ones were far to small- very pleased and happy and warm now- thanks for advice on previous thread :D . At the same time we had TRVs put on all the radiators except for ones that didn't need them. My bedroom radiator has always...

    Ryobi versus bosch cordless drill

Thanks for your feedback am leaning towards the Ryobi although I am a bit new to cordless drills so just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. It does come with two batteries and am presuming charger. I didn't realise it didn't have hammer but from what i've read this would probably...

    Ryobi versus bosch cordless drill

Am looking for my xmas present. Want a cordless drill for outdoors work mostly. Does anyone know if a Ryobi 18v combi drill cid 1802 is likely to be better than a bosch 14.4v GSR 14.4-2 driver drill? Main difference being combi obviously drills into masonary (not essential for me). Both come...

TRV on radiator in cold room

Thanks for your help. Yes easy, but fitting TRVs is beyond my ability so probably expensive to get them all done by a plumber. Will think on it- maybe one in the bedroom instead of the bathroom so we don't bake would be a compromise.

TRV on radiator in cold room

Thank you I didn't understand whether they just made rooms cooler. So unless I fit TRVS to all my other rads and have them set lower to save energy and have the main thermosat set higher than all of them (i.e. 4 degrees higher than required to compensate for temp difference with bathroom)...

TRV on radiator in cold room

The main thermostat is in our hall, it's not particularly warm in there and the nearest radiator is quite far away. I'd say where it is, is a good reflection of the overall temperature of the house and is working ok. The kitchen and bathroom though are almost like an extension sticking out on...

TRV on radiator in cold room

Am changing the radiator in our bathroom for a bigger radiator, because it has 3 outside walls and the current radiator is too small. As the room is much colder than the rest of the house (it sticks out at the back) the main thermostat turns the heating off before the bathroom reaches the set...

    Double or single radiator

Hi We have a very cold bathroom it has 3 solid brick outside walls, it has a small single radiator 600 x 600. The room is 2.5m x 2.6m. I want to change the radiator for a bigger one, I calculated about 1300 watts is needed. Does anyone know if a single radiator 1400 x 620 feel would feel...

    Increasing size of two radiators

Thank you :D I haven't turned any of our rads off yet- we use all the rooms although I suppose that is a bit wasteful! I think the radiator in the hall is probably oversized 8m2 hall with a 1400watt radiator- no outside walls so I suppose we could change it for one of the small 588 watt...

    Increasing size of two radiators

Don't think so- we'd normally have all radiators on at once in the winter on full wack, but we have a cylinder for hot water so guess boiler heats water up for that as and when we use it, which may or may not coincide with heating coming on. It would be very rare we empty it.
