I could call a plumber but he still won't be able to see the route of the piping as we can't take up the floor. No choice but to leave it as is it would seem.
I have a 3cm wide large copper pipe coming into the flat for the gas mains from the communal meters in the basement. I'm first floor.
I can't look under the floor as it all glued down parquet flooring.
Not ideal I know ....but if I switch off the mains gas at the copper pipe and saw through the...
Ahhh, you mean old victorian gas lighting pipes. Sorry my mistake.
So how can I test to see if they have gas flowing? How would the meter help?
The hot water and central heating is gas but I doubt they've connected the old pipes.
I've been chasing out a wall to hide TV cables and hit what looks to be an old lead pipe. Theres an identical one on the other side both where the chase ends in the first picture.
Is this an old lead water pipe? There is gas in the building but there has never been gas supplied to the fire that...
Looking to buy an house and there are problem issues which are reflective in the price.
The property has a roof terrace which isn't sealed and has allowed water to penetrate into the walls.
The rooms below show internal issues such as cracks, blistered paintwork and crumbling plaster...
Is that the £520 extra for the diamond pattern work you mean?
I spoke to the project manager about that. It was £52 he meant. The "0" was a mis type. Seems cheap for an extra week of work, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt.
The idea is to save the dado. They say it'll come off. If it doesn't or comes off in bits then yes then obviously it will have to be replaced at their cost.
The diamond area to be retiled is 3 metres squared. I have plenty of excess tiles due to the fact they measured up and told me I needed...
They have just been to the house and they have acknowledged that it needs redoing.
The builder will remove the side panels of the diamond pattern above the dado in both bathrooms and retile with the correct wrap around the corner. He said he can do it but if necessary a tiler will be brought...
When I posted it was before he finished and it was covered in grout. I expected this to be cleaned off and look nice underneath. He finished Monday.
I didn't realise this was actually his finished result.
Yes, I've posted elsewhere. I want to be fair to the guy. His other work has been spot on. I'm gutted. Clearly he struggled with this but I wish he'd told me before continuing as the dado cost £450 and by all accounts it's ruined.
I wanted an opinion from professional tilers, builders and DIY...
Hi guys,
My builder is just about finishing a retile of my two bathrooms. He's laid 24 square metres of 10cm x 10cm tumbled marble with 17 square metres of bull nose dado. He's done a great job.
However he's now asking an extra £520 because I asked him to tile in a diamond pattern above...
Hello,
I have some fabricated window railings/ grilles on a holiday home.
I have been using Hammerite style paint which is rust resistant but the weldings on the ornate details aren't perfect and water is getting inside and causing rust deposits.
Is there a metal filler that can be...
I am trying to have a cold water tap on an upstairs balcony at a holiday home in Spain.
The closest water source is the boiler above the bedroom cupboard shown in the photo. It has red and blue pipes....cold inlet and hot outlet I presume.
Would it be possible to take a feed off the cold...
Hi guys,
My patio doors in Spain had dirty old silicone seals. I bought a small bottle of silicon cleaner out there which worked and cleaned the silicon without removing it.
Is there anything in the UK that would do a similar job. All the products I can see here seem to be silicon...
