    loft conversion (in Singapore)

Im replacing old tiles with new ones, so same weight in the end. Good question regarding the silver stuff, the roof currently is complete crap, patched up all over, it seems to be some temporary waterproofing sheet.

    loft conversion (in Singapore)

@catlad we’re going to be replacing all tiles, so sounds like that would be a good moment for that change. But if we first build the supporting wall and only then take the beam off, shouldn’t matter right?

    loft conversion (in Singapore)

thanks for replies everyone! @noseall - So if it's positioned in the lower 1/3, it would make it a rafter tie rather than collar tie correct? The thing is there already is a horizontal rafter tie on the bottom marked in blue, sitting on the rc beam. @catlad - it's a residential property, in...

    loft conversion (in Singapore)

    Saniflo discharge

My wc actually empties straight down, into a soil stack, hence i’m not sure how to best plug into it wirhout moving or raising my wc. As to the pipe going up to the vent, no idea what it is, but right behind the wall where it starts is my bathtub drain, could it be the vent for it?

    aluminium foil foil radiant insulation

Thanks for the info, yup, it's a superfoil. My house will be naturally ventilated for the most part, I also got whirliebirds on the roof, ceiling fans and large windows. What I'm trying to avoid is the roof itself acting like an oven after it heats up during the day.

    aluminium foil foil radiant insulation

Hey guys, I live in Singapore, where it's 30 degrees year round. I'm converting an attic space into a loft. I've just had the roof shingles replaced (clay) and an aluminium bubble foil radiant barrier installed underneath. My question is, would I benefit from installing rockwool insulation...
