Boiler pilot light will not stay lit

I have a conventional boiler of unknown age and make ( no visible name on the boiler) I've been away from home for a few days but left the timer on to cover all day on low. Returning this morning the boiler wasn't on and the pilot light out. Radiators were quite warm so it seems it hadn't...

RWB9 programmer not turning boiler on

Thanks for that, maybe there is a bad connection from the valve to the boiler behind the backplate which would explain why when I touch/press the timer unit the boiler lights. The cable from the boiler runs to the timer backplate.

RWB9 programmer not turning boiler on

I checked the 2 port valve and it was already on despite the boiler not having fired.

RWB9 programmer not turning boiler on

Definitely a bad connection between the timer unit and the backplate. The heating came on this morning after I'd fiddled with it last night. Daren't touch it again :-)

RWB9 programmer not turning boiler on

Thanks for the replies. I had another look last night, although I only had half an hour or so spare. I checked the programming and it's fine. I changed the units battery and could get the boiler to start testing it in situ using the "advance" feature, but come this morning the unit failed to...

RWB9 programmer not turning boiler on

Thanks for the reply, yes I'll have to give it a good coat of looking at and see if there's anything I've missed. But I'm guessing the programming is OK otherwise it wouldn't work when I give the unit a press. It's a though it isn't seated right on the backplate and making a bad connection...

RWB9 programmer not turning boiler on

My boiler is operated by a Siemens RWB9 programmer, this operates the heating and water, or rather it did until this week. Now, even though all the lights are on to indicate the system is turned on, the boiler doesn't fire. If I press the control unit the boiler starts up. I guess indicating a...

    Indesit WIA101

And to think I bought Indesit because it was (I thought) a decent make

    Indesit WIA101

Even with the rotary switch to off. The top left green LED with a wash symbol next to it is flashing. If I press the red top right button (Start/pause) the wash cycle starts. Seems to right itself for a day now it's done it again. 7 months Currys guarantee left. so I'll ring them tomorrow...

    Noisy heating system

Further to this - If I keep bleeding the vent every 10 minutes or so I can eventually expel all the air and the system is quiet for a week or so then I have to expel more air. Is there an easy method of replacing my manual air vent with an automatic one?

    Noisy heating system

My fairly old (only moved in 6 months ago so I don't know how old) heating system makes quite a bit of noise. It's more of a trickling water sound than a gurgling and seems to come from the water cylinder. If I release the air vent, air comes out then water. If I leave it a few minutes and...

    Which option to chose?

My CH/DHW system only has a 2 way valve to control the heating. There is no thermostat on the water cylinder or valve on the cylinder heating supply. Is it best to add another 2 way valve to the water heating supply and a cylinder thermostat or remove the old 2 way valve and use a 3 way valve...

    Hot water/heating type.

Could the system I describe above be simply updated by adding another valve to the DHWS to the cylinder and a thermostat to the water cylinder? And then link this into the controls? My heating & water control unit is a new programmable one.

    Hot water/heating type.

Thanks very much for that. Sounds expensive :(

    Hot water/heating type.

Definately can't see one. Only thing it has is an electric emersion heater. It looks like this - http://www.gasman.fsbusiness.co.uk/images/sppic.jpg but without the top 2 port valve :?: :?: Just the bottom one.
