    Pine engineered flooring

Wouldn't a solid wood pine floor warp if laid over underfloor heating? Perhaps reclaimed timber would be dry enough not to warp or shrink. I could reuse the existing pine floor, but much of it looks too wormeaten to lift and relay. Anyway, you've got me thinking I could do part of the floor...

    Pine engineered flooring

I am doing a barn conversion on a barn attached to my house and would like to use an engineered floor over underfloor heating, but feel that oak wouldn't look right (too posh!). Does anyone know of any producers that make an engineered floor with a pine upper laminate?

    Acoustic floor and underfloor heating

9 by 3 (approx) @ 23" centres The current ceiling is spaced off the joists on 1" packers, so I could do that and not lose more that 1/2" or so of headroom. Interestingly enough there is a 3" thick layer of wheat husks sitting on the ceiling, which could have been crude insulation - there...

    stairs in old house

scchin, have you thought of having the old stairs removed carefully and reusing them? Unless there are steps in the ground or first floors, the floor - to-floor height should be the same. Dunno whether the stairs would have to comply with building regs if you did this, after all, they are not...

    Balanced flue, smells and noise

Having noticed a distinct smell of paraffin from two different installations of oil-fired boilers with low level balanced flues, I chose to have my new oil-fired boiler installed with a conventional flue as a balanced flue would be venting into a courtyard, where the wind tends to eddy around...
