We're the waters come through the roof the ceilings plaster board has dropped out and fortunately the joists look ok from what I can inspect.

Im 50 and an electrician. Also I've put a couple of flat roofs on garages 15 years ago, just need some advise from someone with knoledge.

My wife has very kindly volunteered me to replace my mother in laws flat roof. Last year one of her neighbours was doing some painting outside and it appears he damaged the roof (which I'm guessing was already rotten). So my plan is to remove the existing felt and ply and replace in reverse...

The above comments are correct all i can add is as an electrician who works on a lot of appliances it is often worth stripping the core back to the copper and the bend it back on itself so that it fully fills the terminal this way your sure of a tight connection.

I have 240v power to the controls interface board could this stop the display working.ive disconnected the thermostat supply and then bridged out the no volt contacts but nothing happens still.

You can change the socket legally under part p and can also cheaply buy a martindale plug in tested that will check alls ok for you.
