Poor hot water flow (pressure?) from bathroom taps & sho

This doesn't surprise me, the relatively new mid position valve doesn't work, the brand new toilet has got a flush valve held together with silicone sealant and paper clips (well, it did until I replaced it all with a new Fluidmaster setup last weekend), you get the picture!

Poor hot water flow (pressure?) from bathroom taps & sho

My gut feeling is that before we owned the house, it had a bath with separate taps for hot and cold, and no shower. Next door neighbour seems to think this might the case as his house had a retrofitted electric shower when he bought it reasonably new. When the previous owner of my house...

Poor hot water flow (pressure?) from bathroom taps & sho

Hi all I've recently moved house and this is my first experience with this type of water system so please bear with me! The basics of the system: 1980's house. Open vent system. Cold water storage tank in the loft. Very shallow loft space so not much opportunity to raise the tank any...

Strange lighting circuit in my mum's bathroom

Well she got a friend to come round, disconnect the vanity light at the switch and reconnect it (via a temporary length of cable to test it) to the ceiling rose as described, using the loop and neutral from the ceiling rose. Everything worked as it should! So thank you :) I've told her to...

Strange lighting circuit in my mum's bathroom

Firstly, thanks all for your responses - I expected the topic to sink like a stone! IJWS15 Unfortunately I can't pop round as she lives about 250 miles away in Wales, otherwise I would! I've asked for pics of the fittings etc though. ban-all-sheds Circuit is not on an RCD. I was sure the...

Strange lighting circuit in my mum's bathroom

Hi all, new here so please try to be nice :) My mum has recently separated from her partner and is now living on her own. She called me recently with some concerns about the wiring her ex did a couple of years ago in the bathroom. She never raised them at the time but now he's gone she isn't...
