Light switch move - the result

True, I need brushed metal sockets now to match the door furniture. Socket protector stuff has been done to death - see the other thread. I explained the draw backs, but the wife still wants to keep em. The picture was there purely for the enjoyment of a particular poster.

Light switch move - the result

I posted a thread a while ago: //www.diynot.com/forums/electrics/move-light-switch-upwards-any-advice-please.381276/ There was much dispute about, strangely enough, the socket protectors, and questions over my taste in decor. This was the end result: And here is a nice shot...

    Yawn. Are you done yet?

Not wound up. Just strongly making it clear I'm not interested in your opinions. Was hoping to avoid further noise. I failed.

No, but I'd be aware of the tone. And I think that was pretty clear in the responses. The fact that off topic stuff came up is not my problem. It is the way it was done. Anyway, this is tedious to be honest. I had some other useful responses and I have thanked the posters for that...

Yep already done. We also have seen the same stuff in other houses.

Yeah, I think so. But he's not living in my house, so irrelevant really. It is possibly not a look Kevin McCloud would approve of, but when painted up, I think it will look good. This is the look I'm after (using the exact same panels):

A wry smile? Maybe they should do a 'condescending with an overall feeling of superiority' emoticon for you...

My wife puts them in the sockets. We have small children. Their presence means the children are now disinterested in the sockets, whereas previously they found them fascinating. No children have so far died. I am well away of the fact that they can be removed and inserted the wrong way up, this...

Sounds like a good idea; I will be moving it up a little more as I want to clear the dado by at least 20mm or so.

I think you need to read my question. Nowhere was I soliciting for advice in what I had plugged into the electrical sockets. Not sure what the puzzled face is for....keyboard warrior at work here obviously.

My apologies, yes this is dry-lined and it is a partition/stud wall. It is a fairly new house (built 2010).

Move light switch upwards - any advice please.

I am installing 'Easipanel' panelling in my hallway. I have successfully fitted it around electrical points etc. so far. My current problem is that at one end of the hallway a light switch is high enough to easily clear the panelling and dado rail. But, for some reason, near the living...

    Hardwood flooring query

Just as a follow up to this, I eventually moved into the new house and laid the new oak floor via the floating method (over concrete and a foil/foam layer). This time, to avoid any creaks at all, I was very thorough (and a lot more generous) with the PVA. Worked a treat - zero creaking. I'm happy.
