Lol yeah well thanks for all your help. It was the 'aquadimmer' which is a cartridge which switches the flow between bath and shower. A bit of a funny device tbh, but quite easy to swap out. There are a couple of youtube videos which gives some help...the one from "East West Properties" is...

I got a call from home to say they couldn't turn off the shower.... Its a Grohe Rapido with the shower/bath diverter kit (Allure etc). Is this likely to be the cartridge needing replacing ? It doesn't look too tricky to do from the instructions, but I don't want to waste (quite a lot of) money...

I swapped out the filler valve on the toilet because the old one was hissing. The new one has a brass inlet. I had hand-tightened and given it a quarter turn on the first go, but it leaked straight away (quite a bit). So a bit more turning, bit more turning.... Then I turned the washer over...
