Could anyone advise me on any regs relating to proximity of mains cables to metal radiators and metal skirting radiators. My local school have just had work done to increase the number of power points but they are located in such a way that the mains cables make contact with the rads/ metal...
You could but if there is no flow in a section of pipe you may be there till after midnight.
when you suggested just capping was an option I presumed that as the isolation valves are at the bottom of the pipe drop that it amounts to pretty much the same thing. I have always thought...
Cheers- As the pipes dropping down in the utility (adjacent room) are surface does that mean that I could just keep the IVs closed and see which pipe above the IV heats up first?
I presume for this to work I will still have to connect the two pipes in my study together and open both IVs to create flow? I may also have failed to make it clear that the pipes in the adjacent room are surface, running down the whole length of the wall so would this mean that taking the...
Cheers- will check with supplier of skirting heating (discreteheat). If its Unidirectional will still have problem of distinuishing flow from return though. Are you intimating that my original idea willl only work with a TRV also connected?
No and no. Ultimately the skirting heating will have a TRV but I don't want to just connect it up cos its a swine to disconnect / reconnect. Will I need to have a TRV between the joined pipes for my idea to work?
cheers for reply.
In my infinite wisdom I removed a Rad from my study room to renovate/ decorate and marked the flow and return pipes. Give yourself a pat on the back Matt :D . At a later date I decided I would fit skirting heating so cut the pipes down and got rid of the cut ends WITH THE MARKS ON. Give...
Loving the diagram! Feel like a bit of a dullard now but I'm sure it won't be the last time that I order humble pie from the menu.
Thanks for your time- you should consider going into instruction leaflet design (I'm sure if my electrician had left the leaflet for my downlights they wouldn't...
Hi- removed downlighters in the hall and landing so the ceilings could be replastered but am now struggling to refit the downlights. They are the standard design with the pair of clips (each clip consisting of one long and one short component) but there is no tension in the clips to work...
Please advise on trouble shooting why this has suddenly started tripping the consumer unit after 18 months use. My thoughts are it could either be a short or increased load drawing too much current. Have cleaned filters etc, had top off and no obvious wires loose etc. Plug, however, is one of...
Looks like it might have to be the capping then- the only stuff I can find is for electrical cables and doesn't have enough depth- is there anything else more suitable?
cheers
Cheers Richard- I think what I'll do is fill the chase with expandable foam and then bridge over with 9.5 mm plasterboard stuck to the wall with plasterboard adhesive. Will then get my plasterer to feather this in- won't be perfect, but its in a corner so he'll only have to do this from one side...
