Pretty certain as though it has four terminals as described it has two diags one showing intermediate switch with 'int' under it and one showing double pole with 'dp' under it - then on the back I found 'dp' stamped on it and as it doesn't work wired as intermediate I think it confirms it's a...
Thanks - I have now found out I have been sent a DP switch not an intermediate switch! I know a dunce for not spotting it before but at least it's not my total ineptness at understanding wiring that's at fault for it not working.
I just wish to be certain before I change our intermediate light switch on our landing:
We have two cables each with one black and red wire.
The new switch has 2 L1s at the top and 2 L2s at the bottom (it's a contactum intermediate if that helps).
I know I should be able to figure it out...
I'm managing to get some more heat in to the towel rail (I've turned electric thermostatic element on to see if I can get the flow going and yes I will turn it off before knowing if by fluke it has sorted itself!) so I'm hoping against hope that if we do 'B' under WC rad I maybe lucky...
OK new diags as follows:
First would be to do ‘B’ and ‘hope’ it could make a difference.
If not then I have a choice between doing ‘A’ and again hoping it could make it work or as in below diag (my previous scenario 4) with totally separate run for bathroom.
Please note that...
Dear doitall and Whitespirit66,
Tks very much for your help. I now understand your removal of pipe ‘A’ (as sent by email by doitall and as shown on diynot by Whitespirit66’s diag).
Can I just be doubly sure on this:
It might be ‘relatively easier’ than I originally thought to do my...
Tks,
When you say ‘3 is the closest, but you haven’t connected the loops under the rads’ if you make those connections isn’t it the same as 2, or do you mean the loops have to be connected right next to the rads not more remotely?
Stuart
Hi doitall
OK Do you mean as the attached diagram 2 ?
But I think in essence that is what I have proposed in option ‘A’ though drawn schematically different?
Or do you mean as per diagram 3?
But doesn’t this mean that they are either both on or neither on?
Would...
Tks for responses so far.
Whitespirit66 answers as follows:
The tails to the WC rad are about 7 metres.
The tails off this circuit are about 1.5 m to towel rad
doitall answers as follows:
Not certain waht you mean by 'D' being correct solution?
I’m not quite with your last two...
We have a problem Houston….
We have just had bathroom refurbished and a new towel rail added to the system.
Our heating system is a one pipe system with two circuits for flow and return – please see diagram. The towel rail has been plumbed in to the circuit as if it is part of the one pipe...
Planning on having the extractor fan externally switched - would you still need to use an isolator switch in addition?
Tks for any help you can give,
Stuart
No passed being 4nal long time ago I believe:) - it would have been a 5A fuse in CU and no fused spur but think on relection just sticking with fused spur.
Tks again for your help
Stuart
If I changed the fuse rating on the CU closer to 5A (It's 600W element) would that still be safe? I'll most probably still go with fused spur but would like to know options.
Tks very much for your help,
Stuart
If the heating element for a towel warmer in the bathroom is on a separate circuit, i.e. utilising previous immersion tank circuit, would I still need a fused and switched spur?
Any help much appreciated,
Stuart
