    Waterproof enclosure for a boiler

Experts, I am having an oil fired boiler installed in a pool room, and because the boiler is just less than 6ft from the pool installation, I have been told it needs to be in an enclosure, which seems entirely reasonable. Can anybody tell me what spec/materials this box needs to be made...

    Installing a new 'Inefficient' boiler

Thanks for all that. Still have a question remaining. How does one get a fully-qualified, expert, plumber to install a non-condensing boiler? What are the circumstances, Tibbot? Thanks for the courteous response, CJ

    Installing a new 'Inefficient' boiler

Experts, I have a very nice reliable Merlin oil fired boiler in my house, which behaves perfectly. I am adding to the house a building, with a spa pool, for health reasons, and the boilerman says that my current boiler will not have sufficient capacity to run this. I intend to add...

What's a Reasonable price for replacing an oil tank?

Thanks, boilerman2, you hit the price spot on for our second quote. Turns out our first quote was from a cowboy after all. CJ

What's a Reasonable price for replacing an oil tank?

I am aware that there are a lot of variables, but what would be a reasonable price for replacing an old oil tank with a new one about 5 metres away? Tank would be 2500l or less, no bunding required. If we exclude the cost of the tank itself, what is reasonable for the work? Nearest £500...

    Power Shower 'motor' overheating

Many thanks, seco and Richard C. Will have a tentative attack with screwdriver, and once I've scared myself enough, will end up getting a new pump! Thanks again, CJ

    Power Shower 'motor' overheating

It's an electric pump, in the airing cupboard, ie not an electrical unit attached to the shower wall, if that makes sense. It is a 'Showermate 1.4 bar twin' model, if that helps, Thanks CJ

    Power Shower 'motor' overheating

I have had a power shower for about 4 years. It has now developed a fault, in that it gives a normal power shower for no more than 5 minutes, then the pressure drops. The 'motor' bit of the power shower is then hot to the touch, and gives off an overheating smell. Is this a sign of a...

Loss of Pressure in C/H system

Thanks, ianniann, I am coming to that conclusion, were it not for the lack of a puddle. It has been suggested that the coil inside the hot water tank could be leaking into the tank and this is the source of the hidden leak. If so, how could this be diagnosed, other than repacing the...

Loss of Pressure in C/H system

Over the last 24 hours our C/H system has lost pressure. I can top up the pressure using 2 small taps which are close to a pressure gauge, and I increase the pressure to 1 bar. The system then loses pressure over a few minutes, the radiators make splashing noises and the pressure is soon back...
