    Euro cylinder lock sizing

Thanks for the reply keveljay, yes the door is wood. What you are saying does make sense, I have seen 40/40 locks online but not 37.5/37.5. I was reading that Avocet ABS MK3 cylinder were really good.

    Euro cylinder lock sizing

Hi I've just bought a new oak front door. The door comes with multi point locking and is intended to be fitted with a euro cylinder type lock. The door is 55mm thick and the multi point mechanism is in the centre of the door. I want to fit levers on a backplate. The backplate on either side of...

    Fridge/freezer socket

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't going to fit a fused plate because I would need to move the fridge if I ever needed to change the fuse. I want to fit an unfused flat plate. The circuit already has a fused switch on the wall which is accessible without moving the fridge. Is this okay ?

    Fridge/freezer socket

Hi Have just replaced my 12 year old integrated Neff fridge/freezer. The new Neff unit is slightly deeper and fouls on the socket fitted to the wall behind the unit. What can I do about this ? I can't move the socket because there isn't any cable slack. I was therefore thinking that I could...

Hi I need to fit a cat flap into a back door. The door is original to a house built in 2002. The door has a metal skin on the inside and outside. The bottom half of the door has 2 side by side recessed mouldings. See (hopefully) picture: I want to fir the cat flap in the centre of the...

    Joining 20mm galvanised conduit

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up using a 6mm steel cable (bought from ToolSattion) suspended at either end. It does sag very slightly. I could tighten the rope (using a turnbuckle also bought from ToolStation) but the sag is only very small and I don't want to put too much force on my...

    Joining 20mm galvanised conduit

Thanks for all the replies. I can see that Screwfix do 20mm nipples (http://www.screwfix.com/p/20mm-galvanised-nipples-pk-5/28777) Where can I get a tap so that I can thread the internal face of the 20mm pipe ? Screwfix only sell a die. I'm not sure whether it will sag if I only support...

    Joining 20mm galvanised conduit

Hi I want to use some 20mm galvanised conduit as a long run (6m) of curtain rail ! Am not sure that this is strictly the correct place to post this but since conduit is normally used to run wiring I has hoping for a good response here. I want to install a curtain rail in an old...

    Top fixing blinds

Hi Just moved to a new house (1990s build). Need to fit some venetian blinds to 2 windows. The supplied fittings only allow me to do a top fixing. I've made a small hole to see what the lintel is made of. It seems to be metal. I haven't tried drilling into it. Looking at the...

    Neutral in switch box ?

Many thanks for the replies. All the lights in house work okay. Securespark, I think you have hit the nail on the head. There is an outside light on the same wall as the switch box (but outside the house). It makes sense to me now that the live and neutral coming down from the ceiling rose...

    Neutral in switch box ?

Hi I've just replaced 2 light fittings in my house. Both fittings were connected to a 2 way switching arrangement. The first fitting (on the landing) has a cable (red, black, earth) coming in (from another light fitting) and another cable (also red, black, earth) going out (to another...
