    internal rendering over concrete lintel

Hello, I have read as number of the posts on here concerning rendering over concrete lintels and followed some of Roughcaster's advice about 'stippling' a cement/pva slurry. This worked really well to hold my stop beads up (around a fire place opening) but I'd like to know what to do...

    protecting exposed birch ply edges

Hi, I've built some bathroom cabinets out of birch plywood and wood like to seal/oil the interior faces and also the exposed edges. I'm hoping that the 'stripey' edges will look strong and distinctive whilst the interior faces just need protecting. Can I use some kind of oil, or is there a...

keraflex on a kerdi ds membrane?

Spoke to tech support at Schluter, they said that the appropriate adhesive should be selected for the tile not the membrane, as the membrane is fleece lined most adhesives will cure to it. So I think I'm gonna give the keraflex a go as it is correct for the tiles, I'm still worried that it...

keraflex on a kerdi ds membrane?

Hi, I'm building a steam shower and have installed kerdi DS on the surfaces in the cubicle. The shop which sold me the kerdi recommended keraflex to adhere the porcelain tiles , large format, to the kerdi. I have since read that I should be using unmodified thin set. Does anyone have...

stability of compression joint for exposed shower

Just been trying out the fixing plate for fit. Because I have a fixed riser coming from the valve the distance between the valve and the finished tiled wall needs to be greater than that achieved with the elbow connector. I'll look into the connectors from amazon which denzo mentions.

stability of compression joint for exposed shower

Nice analagy, makes sense. I've also read about ptfe tape around the olive, though I must admit I've always put it around the thread, no wonder I'm a bit concerned about dripping compression joints  hopefully I'll get over it with my next joints! Thanks all

stability of compression joint for exposed shower

Thank you, I'll go for it and leave it exposed for a few days to check for leaks....it's that tight but not too tight that confuses me! :-) Happy 2013!

stability of compression joint for exposed shower

Hi, I have bought myself a shower fixing plate to attach my exposed thermostatic valve to. My concern is that the 90° connector supplied is a compression fitting onto the 15mm copper and not a solder. The connector is designed so that it can be screwed to the fixing plate thus won't suffer any...
