Ok, probably some dumb questions here, but I need to go through a process of elimination.
The DHW from my Vailant VCW 242 boiler is not particularly hot. I can get it hotter out of the hot tap if I run another cold tap (which reduces the flow from the hot tap).
So.… eventually I came to the...
Thanks for that, that's what I figured. I guess I'll just have to change bits of the shower until it stops doing it! There are some flow control thingies in each of the inlets, I wonder if these are also non return valves? Might be a place to start I guess.
Hi all, I have a vaillant vcw242e boiler and a meynell viscount thermostatic shower valve. For a while I've been struggling to get decent hot water, and the only way I seemed to be able to fill a hot bath was to run the cold tap in the sink. I'd determined from stuff I'd read around the net...
Can it be cleaned/unblocked or am I best off replacing it? Guess this is what I need http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAILLANT-VCW-242-E-282-E-DHW-HEAT-EXCHANGER-KIT-4-PIPES-065034-/252796290519?epid=1705519087&hash=item3adbd545d7:g:CkwAAOSw4CFYuXtW seems to be a bit of a price variation, and some come...
Thanks for that. Is it something that gets worse? The wife reckons "it was ok last winter" ha ha! Is there anything I can do other than winding down the hot water? I've not messed with it before (water flow), the only thing I have had to do over the years is turn up the temp for the DHW (now at...
Hi,
I've been experiencing a lack of really hot water lately. Its not too bad, but apparently not hot enough for a bath for the Mrs (she seems to like 3rd degree burns!).
I've found that running the cold tap in the sink while filling the bath with hot makes the hot tap in the bath significantly...
I have isolating valves on both the kitchen mixer and the shower mixer, so I will try those. In fact I've tried the kitchen already (easier to get to) and that didn't make any difference, so its down to the shower!
There isn't a screw in the middle of the knob, the whole knob screws onto the threaded shaft that goes into the valve, it rotates all the way till it stops (valve closed?) its not bottoming out on the knob, and the knob isn't spinning, I'm still stumped!
just checked it again, i'm sure its not just turning. the flow on the hot tap is less when its "off" (should be off) but not a great deal, there's a reasonable flow still going.
I've been trying to replace the diaphragm in the water section of my VCW242E boiler.
I've got the instructions from Vaillant, and followed the steps to turn off the boiler; gas service cock, CH service cocks (x2) and the DHW cold water service cock.
The next stage was to undo the unions on...
