Connect modern 40mm waste to older pipework

The issue I have is that the pipe that goes into the floor (already tiled!) is the older diameter so at some point it will have to connect to that. I have managed to find some markings on one of the old elbows : Osma 5Z160 90 deg ABS - just googled and that linked to a Wavin product on Travis...

Connect modern 40mm waste to older pipework

I bought the Floplast compression coupler from Screwfix - obviously it's a lot tighter on the new pipe than the old. Even with it done up as tightly as possible I can force the old thinner pipe to move albeit it's not loose as such - think it's going to be watertight?!!

Connect modern 40mm waste to older pipework

The pipework was serving a basin, and then 2 up stands for washing machine and tumble drier. It's kind of a utility as well as downstairs loo. The basin part is stepped down to 32mm, well at least this pipework version of it! The rest is all 40mm outside diameter. I am trying to get rid of one...

Connect modern 40mm waste to older pipework

I need to rework some waste pipe in our downstairs loo. I assumed it was standard 40mm solvent weld waste pipe as the house is less than 20 years old. I bought some floplast pipes and elbows etc from screwfix. Offering up a connector it is obvious the new pipe is larger than the old. The old...

    12v E27 Lightbulbs

Thanks all. I have a new multimeter arriving in a day or two so will test the output at the fitting points. I did get a 12v LED bulb tonight and tested in one (it arrived before the meter) and that illuminated fine, but I appreciate loading up 6 of those is a different kettle of fish. What am I...

    12v E27 Lightbulbs

Ah I see - yes I can do that - it's kind of what I was considering with replacing the innards of the new ones with those of the old - diffusion of the light was the biggest issue with that. So if I can get a diffused bulb with a different holder that would work - if the current transformer /...

    12v E27 Lightbulbs

Hi The new fittings are https://www.valuelights.co.uk/bow-ip64-oval-bulkhead-wall-light I have found that the old lights run off a 10v transformer : https://www.easylighting.co.uk/firstlight-white-led-wall-step-light-silver-finish-1811wh-14352/ So not sure what our options are now. If its...

    12v E27 Lightbulbs

We have some in wall LED lights which have seen better days and we want to remove them. Ideally we want to fit some bulkhead lights that take E27 Edison Screw bulbs and surface mount them as they will go with the vintage look we are after in the hallway. The current lights obviously have some...

    Relocating Durgo Valve

Hi Thanks for that - yes the durgo itself will remain vertical just probably 18-24 inches away from the top of the soil stack to one side.

    Relocating Durgo Valve

In our en suite bathroom the soil stack has a durgo valve that terminates at just lower than the cistern height. Whoever designed the house in their wisdom made the en suite so tight that the boxing in for the durgo / soil was basically flush against the side of the cistern - looked awful, and...

I have contacted the suppliers but not had a sensible reply yet. Was hoping someone might have used them and had some real world advice. I will contact Aurora.

    Installing Aurora downlights

No. Have a look at my link it's the little tabs that are on the top face of the can near the bezel. It has the spring arms in place of those bits in your link. They are riveted on so removal is possible if drilled out but not sure if that will affect operation, obviously it will invalidate any...

I'm not sure!! The directions don't point them out and the 75mm cut out dimension does not Llow for them!!
