Installing Blum Hinges

I have purchased some Blum Hinges for overlay doors - model no 71B3550 - soft close.

I have 18mm thick doors, and 18mm thick cabinet carcass to mount them to.

I am struggling to understand what offset I need to use to drill the hinge hole in the door! I have a jig etc, but when looking up the offset from the edge all I could find was a rather confusing set of tables!

Anyone know how far from the edge I need to be drilling please? The jig seems to have 3/4/5/6mm options.

I think I know the “confusing table” you're referring to…

When the range is 3-7mm, I think you can safely use 5mm and if necessary fine tune using the adjustment screws later.

Maybe someone else with more experience will confirm?

Yes, 4 or 5mm is fine for 18mm setup.

Thanks all - I'll go with 5mm I think - a little more "meat" round the hole but still enough adjustment I think for alignment. I did find a slightly friendlier version of the tables on another site that was a little easier to interpret, but it is very reassuring to have what I thought I understood confirmed!!

I go with 5mm, meaning that you bore drill at 22.5mm (assuming a 35mm cup).

AFAIK 5mm is standard. Overlay Vs inset doors. The only difference is the crank on the arm.

BTW, I have only used 4 different bore drill bits in the past, the Makita one is the best I have come across.
