Obviously I'm still learning but from what I understand so far, as long as I leave a 50mm gap between the roof felt and the insulation between the rafters then ventilation should be OK, is this not the case?

I think I'll be able to get the majority of it up through what will be the new staircase, before I fit the stairs. I do have some much more experienced relatives/friends I can call on if(when) I get stuck. If you can see the plans in my first post, I think the only place I can fit the stairs...

I'll start by making sure I've got everything I need on site when I need it, before I start each aspect of the work.

It's a mixture of the old copper and new plastic that I have used. I don't believe there could be anything trapped inside, everything was new and the install was straightforward. I will try and see if I can direct the pipe into a bucket one night this week. The valve does stop the flow of water...

No it's not on a flexi pipe. I'm not sure I can try that without making a mess. Nothing else has changed with the plumbing and the old tap didn't used to do this. Do you think the tap could be faulty or is it possible it's just designed for a lower pressure?

Sorry I meant isolation valve not check valve. I can take a pic if really necessary but I'll have to take the unit apart. I've attached a pic of the valve used below. They don't have a flow direction marked on them and they're mounted vertically. I have used them on the basin and bath taps...

Well I've had a look around and can't find it anywhere easily accessible :( There are some uneven floorboards in our main bedroom and landing, which look like they have been lifted and not put back very well so I'm hoping it's under there somewhere, should be able to have a look at the weekend!
