Will a show pump equalise h & c water pressure?

Thank you seco services, that's really good to know ... appreciate your advice. I'll take a new cold from the tank then pressures will be much more equal prior to pumping. Will just require a bit more plumbing thats all ... cheers

Will a show pump equalise h & c water pressure?

I have a client with much higher pressure in their mains-fed cold than their tank-fed hot water, who wants their two showers boosted with pumps. Will pumps equalise the water pressure across the H&C or will it simply magnify the pressure of each the same? i.e. will I also need a Pressure...

    Extending existing shower arm?

I have a client who has a shower arm about 12" in length poking out the bathroom wall, curving through 90degrees to a nice shower head. Now she wants the arm extending in length to about 20-30" (with some form of support to the ceiling) and I cannot find any "standard" shower arms in this kind...

Is there an easy way to lift laminate to get to plumbing?

Oh bug**r - I was hoping that would be a good way to find where the blockage was seated. Any ideas how I might find out otherwise?

Is there an easy way to lift laminate to get to plumbing?

I appreciate your interest in my problem - thanks :-) Basically, it's a single-pipe central heating system (I know, not that good, but it's all I have in the absence of funds to replace it) and there's a blockage somewhere in the C/H circuit (the H/W circuit works okay). I believe there's a...

Is there an easy way to lift laminate to get to plumbing?

I have a prob with my central heating and need to find out where the heating circuit is. Is there an easy way to lift laminate flooring without shafting it for good, to get to the floorboards underneath and investigate?

Ideas on HOW to find the blockage?

I've just flushed the whole system and stuck some inhibitor in. Same prob, but the water that came out wasn't that dirty. I'm presuming something's either built-up or just some crud's jammed downstream. I like the hosepipe idea, 'cos I could effectively go from rad to rad until I find one...

Ideas on HOW to find the blockage?

... that I've just had cleaner in it for over 2 months (too scared to remove it over winter in case "this" happened!) It should be as clean as a crappy old system gets. I've removed 2 rads and flushed 'em in the road, and they were kinda cruddy, but considering (when this is fixed) fitting a...

Ideas on HOW to find the blockage?

Having read the boiler pops if the temp drop isn't at leat 11degrees then I've stuck the 3-pos valve on A+B so it's servicing BOTH the c/h and h/w. The idea is that the heating "eventually" get's warm at least, even if it takes hours, then when I stick the valve over to c/h it should be okay...

Ideas on HOW to find the blockage?

Through a process of elimination I've worked out that I've a blockage somewhere in the heating circuit of my vented central heating. When the 3-port valve is totally h/w, the boiler works fine and we get hot water. When the valve is totally c/h, the boiler thermostat cuts the boiler out about...

    Home-Made Power Flush?

Sorry guys, should've said I've already flushed the rads individually by removing them. I'm really after getting the pipework "cleaned out" if poss. Also forgot to mention the step to put the 3-port valve to "manual" first, as the h/w circuit seems fine.

    Home-Made Power Flush?

Please don't shoot me down in flames for my stupidity, but I was wondering if a home-made power flush might be a good idea or not, considering I'm skint just before Xmas and my heating is crap? I've tried lots of other work, and come to the opinion that power flush is required (see my previous...

Rads take ages to warm up

Another update, as promised. Took a couple more rads off the wall, flushed 'em (tons of black sludgy crud came out!) and put back. Boiler kept overheating until I get some of the air out the system (by turning the boiler pot to zero and turning off/on/off/on/etc. the power switch to the boiler...

Rads take ages to warm up

An update, as promised. Duly removed one rad and WHAT A LOAD OF CRUD IN IT! You WOULDN'T BELIEVE THE AMOUNT! Flushed it through, using rubber mallet to dislodge stubborn bits, and took about 20mins to do. Will do another today when I get home, and hopefully by the weekend we'll be ready to...

Rads take ages to warm up

Going to "practice/experiment" with one rad, by closing of valves either side of it, loosening connector so it drips empty then lifting off the wall and trying to flush outside with a hose. Will use rubber mallet gently to "persuade" stuborn crud to come out, and then put back by reverse of the...
