    Can anyone tell me what the people who did this conversion have used to suspend the new trimmers an what size the trimmers should be. Also how the new floor is fixed to stop any movement back and forth, i'm assuming they have tied it to the wall but its not clear from the photo.

    Another electrician at work reckons that if you take a 110v halogen floodlight and fit it with a 240v plug and plug it in it will work, only dimmer than when run at 110v. I argued that was rubbish, it would blow the lamp, and if it did run it would run brighter given that as ohms law states...

    I have a 6mm cable supplying a kitchen from a 32a mcb. the cable supplies an old wylex board which then supplies the cooker and kitchen sockets. the problem is before the cable gets to the kitchen c/u it is terminated into a socket. Is the connection to the socket acceptable

    But if I know its a ring main and extend the ring but some of the existing sockets are mounted in the skirting board, do I have to move those sockets up the wall.
