I have a 6mm cable supplying a kitchen from a 32a mcb. the cable supplies an old wylex board which then supplies the cooker and kitchen sockets. the problem is before the cable gets to the kitchen c/u it is terminated into a socket. Is the connection to the socket acceptable

not sure if it actually breaches any regs but at the very least i'd wan't a label on the kitchen CU warning about it.

also IMO 32A is a bit low for cooker and kitchen sockets together.

Sorry if I'm being thick, so does the cable supply the kitchen still, or are you saying that the socket has been inserted into the run between the 32A breaker and the Old Wylex CU?

its been inserted between the 32a mcb and the old wylex unit.
