What do you suggest the cill should sit on then?

"Windows look a mess when the cill is sat on a mortar bed" BUT it's the correct way to fit it.

..looks like a brown water mark at the back of the cill, easiest way if the coat hanger did not clear is to run a 5mm drill bit "carefully" through the existing drainage holes making sure they exit the bottom frame...but NOT into the projection cill below it. Then get a cup of water and test again.

I would say your window needs to sit on a 15 to 20mm mortar bed with fixings up each jamb at least 160mm from each corner/weld. Do not screw through the head..either use a cleat and/or fixing foam.

woody you say...The only requirement under the b/regs is that the windows do not make the situation any worse. Thats the problem.. the design has to stay as the existing and as the new ones are PVC then by design they will make it worse? Many other companies have copied the existing designs...
