Fitting kitchen sink into undersized unit

Ok, new kitchen has arrived but in her infinite wisdom the other half wanted to get a sink from elsewhere as she didn’t like the ones they sold. She found one she liked which is a sink and drainer total 750 in width, sink is 550 including tap holes to side. The rest is draining board. Now I’ve...

Non contact tester showing cooker live. Random shocks in kitchen.

I only used the pen to see if there was anything that was going live to give my wife the shocks such as the washing machine that I couldn’t get a good earth off without scratching paint. Useful to scan for voltages quickly I guess. The kettle didn’t actually go in the bin it went to work...

Non contact tester showing cooker live. Random shocks in kitchen.

Thank you. Just isolated the cooker circuit and pulled the front off the socket/double pole switch and hey Presto… earth wire not connected properly in the switch! It just fell out if it was even in there properly. May have just been touching the common earth “bar” So that explains it all. Pan...

Non contact tester showing cooker live. Random shocks in kitchen.

Yes. Zero voltage when isolator switched off. I’m sorry as she keeps telling me more things (the joy of forums)… she now tells me the trip went a couple of times, and then stopped failing. What you say makes perfect sense, something making the case live, but why isn’t this being discharged...

Non contact tester showing cooker live. Random shocks in kitchen.

She just said it was both…. Like a pulsing then a crack. Do you think she was “live” and then when touching earth either through the earthed toaster or “ground” got the shock as it discharged? Ok. The plot thickens. She’s just told me that a pan boiled over a few weeks ago and tripped the...

Non contact tester showing cooker live. Random shocks in kitchen.

That’s what I thought too (static) , but generated by what? Washing machine adjacent? But back to my original question should the cooker light up the pen?

Non contact tester showing cooker live. Random shocks in kitchen.

Ok. So a few weeks ago my wife got a shock off what she thought was the metal kettle we use plugged into the outlet which is also the cooker switch (a twin unit). She binned the kettle as thought it was faulty and plugged the new kettle into another outlet in the kitchen. This is now the same...

    pump cutting out.

ah that explains something. the pump would occasionally not cut out after 5 minutes of the heat going off ie overrun. as for parts. i should be able to get the part. i bought the pcb 2 years back for the servowarm depot in totnes for £20. they said then they had no plans to stop stocking the...

    pump cutting out.

ok. i have an old servowarm elite 50 and the the pump seems to cut out occasionally causing the water to kettle and then this cuts off the gas through the high temp cut out.. (i'm guessing here from advice i have been given elsewhere). Anyway i called an engineer out who said the system is...

I touched all the cables from the dist board.. all ok. then worked my way back to the meter.. fine. but as i...
