    Oven lamp housing for chimney

@john, Prefer it to be inside. Argentinians appear to use some kind of Bulkhead lamp like this, but they must have a fireproof spec.

    Oven lamp housing for chimney

@john, It is actually a very large outdoor BBQ! But in essense the design is very similar to a open fire with a chimney. I need to light on when the BBQ is on - so that I can what I am cooking. I know it is possible, because this type of BBQ is popular in Argentina and they usually have...

    Oven lamp housing for chimney

Hi, thanks for comments all. It will go over an open wood fire, so there will be flame about 1M below. I imagine it looking exactly like Fluorescence's picture. Could I connect the Bosch oven lamp and housing (I put picture in earlier comments) in this way? I would really appreciate a link to...

    Oven lamp housing for chimney

If I leave a couple of inches of heat resistant wire in chimney breast and attach the above lamp to it. Would it be OK to just leave lamp hanging from cable without seciring it? Fire is over 1M below.

    Oven lamp housing for chimney

So if I buy this, what sort of "surface box" could I use to attach it? Or could I just let it hang from the cable?

    Oven lamp housing for chimney

I am looking for a generic oven lamp housing to fit inside a chimney approx 1.2 meters above the grate. All housings I can find are specific to a cooking oven and are made to fit into a molded space in the oven lining. I want something I can surface mount inside the brick chimney. Any ideas...

    Concrete mix advice

Hi, I am making a flat slab (like a paving stone) to sit on top of a BBQ chimney. It will sit on 4 half bricks, 1 at each corner. Therefore the slab needs to be quite strong. I will put rebar inside, but I am a little confused about the mix. Usually, I mix 1:4 cement and ballast. But...

External brick wall German/Mortar smear issue

Hi, I have built a wall in garden from cheap modern bricks. They are orange with random brown patches, but I wanted an "older" looking finish. I have applied a mortar wash, by taking very thin amount of Blue Circle Ready Mix mortar, and smearing it over the wall with a cloth - I then rinsed it...

    German/Mortar smear transparency in rain

Thanks again Ken for link to product. However, for sake of others reading this - I am NOT looking to change how my bricks look again. I have already done that with a mortar smear and the results are great. My problem is that when it rains the mortar smear goes transparent. I am looking for...

    German/Mortar smear transparency in rain

Hi Ken, Yes I have heard of this - but does it actually work? How long does it take? Be great to see some before/after pictures. I was looking for a chemical fix for the problem - i.e. some solution to paint over my mortar to stop it absorbing rain water. DM
