    Fernox filter question

Ok thanks for clearing that up. The confusion was that they installed it at the same time as the central heating. I haven't even really looked at it to be honest. I am just asking on my nans behalf.

    Fernox filter question

Yeah it's to do with the central heating. Lol yeah probably fitted 10-15 years ago. I am glad you said that because I just boxed it in! Appreciate the info. Thanks mate.

    Fernox filter question

Hi, My nan has this filter I have attached below and she asked me to find out what she needs to do with it. I am guessing you turn the supply off then remove part of it then add some chemical cleaning liquid? I tried looking on google but I couldn't find quite what I was looking for. Can...

Matching artex pattern patch after boiler removal

It's about a 1m² patch. Yeah my house was built in 90's and has artex ceilings. Probably not asbestos though. I would have definitely preferred to have skimmed it and I have done it before but it's for my 86 year old nan and she is kind of set in her ways. She only rents the place although...

Matching artex pattern patch after boiler removal

Yeah shocking price. I bought a kit for £30 that is supposed to do upto 3m² and it was well reviewed so hopefully it is worth it. The brush was £15+ anyway.

Matching artex pattern patch after boiler removal

Yeah apparently it was done without a stipple brush but I don't know how or what method. I have bought a stipple brush to have a go at getting as close to the pattern as possible.

Is it a bad idea to drill artex from about 30 years ago?

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your inputs. I am still on the fence about it to be honest. The bit near where I would need to drill is weak as well. I could just attach some wood to the skirting and build the frame up from there. It wouldn't look as professional but it wouldn't matter...

Is it a bad idea to drill artex from about 30 years ago?

Ok so basically I need to box in some pipes for my nan behind her toilet and obviously it would be a lot easier if I can drill into the wall for the frame but I am nervous about there being asbestos. She recently had her bathroom converted and they have drilled a handle on the wall but I don't...

Matching artex pattern patch after boiler removal

Also I forgot to ask if it's a bad idea to drill into this for boxing in? I think it was done around 30 years ago so is ot likely to contain asbestos?

Matching artex pattern patch after boiler removal

Yeah something like that maybe. I know it's a bad idea to hack at artex. She still has polystyrene ceiling tiles as well! I think she would just say leave it as it is rather than skimming as she only rents. I don't think the landlord would help. They would just say it's ok as it is. I was just...

Matching artex pattern patch after boiler removal

Hey guys, I am doing a few odd jobs for my nan and I am painting the bathroom and doing some boxing in of pipes and she has a patch on the wall where she had the boiler moved when she had central heating installed a few years ago. I said I will ask here as you are a knowledgeable bunch...

Can I replace honeywell boiler timer?

Hi, I just wanted to ask if it possible to update this Honeywell timer that is next to my Valliant bolier to something newer at all and what would be a good replacement please? Also is it a complicated job for an electrician or a straight forward swap? Tia

Confused by garden light switch wiring

Ok thanks a lot for your help. I wanted to change the light anyway as the current one is a bit worn so that could be it. I think I might just buy some 1 way switches as well. So a fault with my boiler could cause my downstairs sockets to trip even if it's on a different circuit?

Confused by garden light switch wiring

No I have lived here for 17 months and it has never tripped the lighting once. When I installed the new switch it worked the first few times that I used the light but then I went to turn it on and it went bang and tripped the RCD downstairs lighting. I have had problems with my plug sockets...

Confused by garden light switch wiring

Ok here is some pictures. The garden light has the original switch back on there with everything as it was. I just used the 2 red wires and it blew. I didn't rewire it because I thought it was already correct and I couldn't understand why it tripped.
