    Shed advice

Sounds like a fun weekend actually! The challenge is, how spider proof can I make a tongue and groove shed? ;) Cheers

    Shed advice

Hi, thanks for the feedback. Yes I fully intend to buy a premade shed. Do they go together just like flat pack? What type roof is most appropriate? Given two sides of the shed will be inches from the fence.

    Smoothing over textured cement

Is this going to require a bit of skill then, is this not a DIY job? (never done any plastering).

    Replacing a conservatory roof

Hi, thanks for the feedback. The soil stack actually goes through the conservatory in a box section; it was the baste waste that I was referring to (goes horizontally above the roof). Standard poly roof is fine, just had nobody interested in the job. I'll keep ringing round. Cheers

    Shed advice

I've never bought/owned a shed so I'm after some simple advice, rather than make a costly mistake. I can get fit an 8ft wide (fence to pond) by 7ft long (fence to grass) paving slab base comfortably in the corner. This would make the shed only accessible from one side, would this hinder...

    Smoothing over textured cement

Well I think its cement anyway, its definitely not plaster. The pictures below are of the inside of my conservatory, is there a DIY alternative to smoothing the walls without resorting to pay a plasterer to do the job? Something like Polycell SmoothOver, if that's not blasphemy around...

    Replacing a conservatory roof

My conservatory roof is about 13 years old and past its best, as you can see with all the mold and water inside it. If at all possible I would like to replace it with either a Victorian or Georgian style roof (bath waste pipes may be in the way, as seen in the photograph) or at the very least...

How effective is sand joint stabiliser?

Jointing sand was left for two weeks before being topped up, then the stabiliser was added. I spoke with the manufacturer and they said it should be soft enough to stick your finger nail in but other than that its pretty solid. I'll have another go! Cheers.

How effective is sand joint stabiliser?

    Yeah, block paving.

How effective is sand joint stabiliser?

What results should I expect from using this? After leaving fresh kiln dried sand to compact over a couple of weeks I applied some sand joint stabiliser which I bought off ebay. Mixed as per the instructions, I was expecting it to turn the sand rock hard but instead its just firmed it up a...

    Sealing block paving in October?

That drive is lovely. Thanks all for your comments, I'll just go with a stand stabiliser and ill do it again properly come summer.

    Sealing block paving in October?

Yeah its an expensive waste to get wrong. I think I may just go with some joint stabiliser to keep the sand in place till next summer. I believe I can apply it so long as the surface is dry.

    Sealing block paving in October?

I've just refurbished my block paving because it had been severely neglected. Looks a million times better and I've got some very expensive Resiblock superior (matt of course!) to go down but I'm concerned the concrete blocks won’t dry sufficiently - this will lead to premature failure of the...

    Concrete fence post colour

I’ve got some tatty concrete fence posts and gravel boards that really need tarting up. I wanted to paint them and keep the colour as near as regular concrete as they are e.g. an off white colour. I bought some masonry paint samples from Dulux online but they are all quite different as...
