Yes, I will get some clear silicone sheet, maybe 1mm or 2mm thick and cut my own washers. I can maximise the contact area this way as I won't need the full adjustment slot. Cheap enough to try.

I have a couple of lengths of 6mm chrome plated steel bar that I want to bend. The bend is not tight, only about 30 degrees at most. Will cold bending damage the plating at all. If so, would hot bending be better or would this also damage the plating?
