Yes, I will get some clear silicone sheet, maybe 1mm or 2mm thick and cut my own washers. I can maximise the contact area this way as I won't need the full adjustment slot. Cheap enough to try.
I think this has been asked before but there wasn't any sensible answer. The fittings on my toilet pan that locate the quick release seat are sliding around and no matter how much I clean the pads and tighten the screws, it still slides around. When I removed them for the first time since the...
I wanted to try but annoyingly I cannot see any way into it. I cannot see how they could have even assembled it. It's frustrating really as I always like to have a go at fixing things like this. I am going to have another look to see if there is anything obvious otherwise I will have to assume...
No honestly, which is why I am no hurry to replace it. I think I am more looking ahead to a day when I may have to replace it for some reason. This has confirmed that I probably won't find an exact match so makes the search easier come the day.
I may have to try a square seat eventually. The lack of soft close isn't really a problem and It is only the lid that has lost it. There is no panic so I can keep looking for a while. I would ask the company that fitted my bathroom but as we didn't part on the best terms due to quality of work...
My current toilet seat which was fitted new three years ago has pretty much stopped soft closing. I have been looking for a replacement but I am having trouble because of the shape. It is not square but tapers slightly from front to back (see drawing). All the seats I have found are "square"...
He says he is happy to live with it as it is and just turn the fan off manually. However, given the chance I would like to get over and investigate further.
He took a photo before removing the module and this backs up the fact that the wiring seems wrong. I assume the replacement is 12v as it has the same part number. I will have another look at the new one when they return from their hols.
A neighbour asked me if I could have a look at his Icon 12v bathroom fan over the weekend. It had been installed a few years ago with the "run on" timer module fitted. Previously it had run on for about 10 minutes after switching off the light but was now running indefinitely. He assumed that...
I am considering using a water butt to supply my Karcher K3 pressure washer. This is with a view to using some of the copious amounts of water we get from the sky in Cumbria rather than from the tap. I always find that rain water cleans the car better as well. Apparently the K3 supports drawing...
I have a couple of lengths of 6mm chrome plated steel bar that I want to bend. The bend is not tight, only about 30 degrees at most. Will cold bending damage the plating at all. If so, would hot bending be better or would this also damage the plating?
My wife made a remark the other day about how her dad always told her not to drink cold water from the bathroom tap. My first thought was that this was a throwback to the days of lead pipework. However, I had a look at diagrams for domestic water systems and saw some where the downstairs cold...
We have the same thermostat but with the numbers as shown. To be honest, we just use ours to switch the heating on or of and set it to around midway. Ours is in our hallway which tends to be colder than the other rooms, so by the time the hallway gets up to around 15 degrees, the other rooms are...
