No More Ply and installing kitchen units

I'm just in the process of renewing my kitchen. I'm going to re-tile my floor and have floorboards, so I'm thinking of using 6mm No More Ply over that. I'm hoping that I can just then tile in the area where the new units aren't sitting. Can No More Ply support kitchen units directly on it...

    Shed planning

I'm doing a similar thing and currently building a shed from scratch, and have used a CAD package to plan it. Like you, I'm using 47x75 (actually measure 44x72) beams for the frames. I haven't gone for any diagonal bracing as the cladding should make it rigid. I've already got 3 sides up and...

    Grass drainage/muddy lawn

I'm currently in the process of replacing my old lawn on clay soil. I removed the old turf (hadn't been touched for 2 years so very straggly) in the winter, to reveal the underlying soil. I was left with basically a clay mud bath in the wet weather. I tried digging a deep hole (1.5m deep) with a...

Any one guess what mechanic has done here?

Which he'll keep for himself and he'll fit an old pair of tights from the scrappy instead. If a mechanic claims he can change a cambelt for £70 then it should be a pretty easy cambelt change, and therefore might be easier to do it yourself.

    Removing/reducing concrete block in garden

I like the TNT idea (not the incompetent postal service after watching last night's Dispatches programme)! Actually something that could fracture the block into a couple of lumps would be quite helpful, but I wouldn't want to split my whole house in two! I've dug down a bit further and still...

Sub base or no sub base

I've got a similar situation where I've got an ugly old concrete patio, and my plan is to simply pave over it. I think the pavingexpert website give some advice on the best type of mortar for that situation. How much extra height are you limited to?

    Removing/reducing concrete block in garden

While I was digging over the back garden after removing the old lawn I hit a large concrete block. It was obviously for a sticking a clothes hanger in as there's a hole in the middle. The trouble is, it's about 40x40cm across and over 50cm deep, so a little over-engineered. I would like to...

    BBQ

Gas isn't real barbequing! Get something with a lid so you can cook things more slowly and get the smoke flavour into the food.

    Shed enquiry

It's worth working out what caused the old shed to disintegrate. I recently took down the old shed in my garden, and that rotted due to dampness coming up from below. So my main task in planning the replacement shed is ensuring the base isn't going sit in water, so I've been building up the plot...

    Tongue & Groove treated floorboards

I can seem to find plenty of places that stock treated matchboard, but they are nearly all in the north. I haven't yet found a timberyard in the south east that seems to stock it. Does anyone know of any?

    Tongue & Groove treated floorboards

    Yes, I meant the floor.

    Tongue & Groove treated floorboards

Would shiplap be strong enough for a floor?

    Tongue & Groove treated floorboards

I'm looking at building my own shed, and would like T&G floorboards. I can find plenty for sale, but none appear to be treated/tanalised. Does such a thing exist? If not, what's the best way of preserved the floorboards? I plan on attaching them to a floor-base frame made from treated 2x4...

    Digging up old lawn.

I had a bit more of a go with the strimmer to thin out the really thick stuff, and ended up revealing a paved path that was completely buried by the grass! Good job I didn't get stuck in with the rotavator on that. The turf cutter looks good, but they seem quite expensive to hire.

    Digging up old lawn.

I'm going to relay a new lawn, so turf was my preferred choice; though I'll probably add a couple of small plots for growing things. I've also got small children so don't want down anything too toxic to kill off the grass. I suppose the doors are the normal 70cm width.
