    Asbestos rope behind 1960s fireplace

    Hi there. Recently knocked out an old tiled fireplace, I guess from 1960'a. Behind it where it met the chimney breast I found some rope which I suspect might have been asbestos. Wasnt wearing a mask until i saw the rope and suspect i breathed a bit in. Has anyone ever heard of this before...

    Thanks for the useful (and friendly) advise Onetap. Unfortunatly I have already trawled through pasges and pages discussing this subject but have been unable to find a conclusive answer. Some people saying it is illegal, others saying it is no more dangerous than pumping up a bike tyre.

    cheers delta. With a 110mm diameter pipe could i connect the toilet into it at the end or does the toilet need a separate connection to the main soil stack. also what sort of fall would i need on the 110mm pipe?

    I think they had been outside for a few days when i found them, not sure before then. I might cut out the warped panels and put back ply panels. to avoid having to take the whole door apart i could just fix the panels with the mouldings?
