    Isolated towel radiator question

Hi Madrab. Topped it up to 1bar 24 hours ago - system now cold and it's settled back down to 1bar, so fingers crossed that was the source of the problem. Just seems mental that a system with the volume of 7 rads + UFH can lose 0.4bar in a week over such a small loss of water. One thing, the...

    Isolated towel radiator question

@terryplumb and Madrab Got yer, makes sense now, cheers. Also, is a drop in pressure of 0.4 to 0.5 bar over a week consistent with something as innocuous as a tiny weep in a radiator? This sealed system I have is a pain in the wotsit, honestly wish the house just had an old fashioned set up.

    Isolated towel radiator question

Hi all Got a sealed system, boiler been losing about 0.4bar over a week. I have found a pinhole leak half way up the towel rad (where one of the horizontal bars meets the vertical frame) so am hoping that's the cause of the pressure loss. I have closed both valves to isolate the offending rad...

Boiler pressure too high when CH on

Thanks Picasso - would a change of boiler - to say a 30kw unit - solve this problem? Mindful that boiler is nearly 10 years old and I've no idea as to the longevity of remehas.

Boiler pressure too high when CH on

@Madrab Yes, it was pointed out at the service, no pressure in the EV so repressurised it up to 1 bar. UFH was fitted same time as boiler (24s avanta plus) when we had renovations done 10 years ago. Yes going from 1 bar to 2 bar is without rads on. If I turn UFH / HW off, and just run rads...

Boiler pressure too high when CH on

It was only serviced a couple of weeks back. How come the pressure increase for UFH and HW is ok, but goes through the roof for CH? Does each one put different demands on the EV?

Boiler pressure too high when CH on

Hi all I have a Remeha Avanta 24s, nearly 10 years old, recently serviced with EV repressurised. If I put CH on, the pressure goes from 1.1bar to over 3 bar within 20 mins. I've turned it off, when I do the pressure bar momentarily flickers up to nearly 4 bar, then gradually comes down. If I...

Rapid increase in pressure during central heating

General question about this, is a check of the EV pressure something that should be included as part of a regular boiler service?

Immersion Heater Element / Boiler Pressure Loss

    1. Thanks, good to know 2. Yes, pressure gauge on boiler 3. Serviced recently along with the boiler.

Immersion Heater Element / Boiler Pressure Loss

I assume it's not one of those - it's a TWS TwinBoost 210litre cylinder, put in to deliver mains pressure to bath/shower when we switched over from vented to unvented 10 years ago.

Immersion Heater Element / Boiler Pressure Loss

Hi all I have a HW cylinder that leaks slightly from where the immersion element is screwed into the cylinder. It can go several days and not leak, then this morning for example there's 200ml of water in the tub I've placed underneath it. Couple of plumbers had a look and loathe to touch it in...

    Yale HSA6400 beeping problem

Hi I've got the Yale HSA6400 wireless alarm which I installed a year ago. Recently the control panel has started to emit a beep every 30 seconds. It does this for a few hours then stops. And starts again the next night. The system hasn't been tampered with and the yellow light has not...

    Hardwired vs Wireless programmer

Thanks. Option 1 sounds like the quickest fix for a novice. But let's say the temp on Siemens controller is set to come on for a short time in morning and afternoon, won't the fact that the ST699 is set to ON override the timings and mean the heating is on continously? So you are saying it...

    Hardwired vs Wireless programmer

Hi all Hope someone can give me some advice. We have a hardwired Honeywell ST699 24hr programmer in the airing cupboard. This controls the on/off times of the water/heating. When we had the bolier replaced, plumber kept the Honeywell controls and also installed a Siemens wireless RDJ10RF...

    Marble Fireplace

Hello all, maybe someone can help... Took the old wooden fire surround out and out fell the (heavy) marble that was around the fireplace (two short slabs and long slab along the top). When I put in my new oak surround, what is the best material to use to affix the marble back to the wall...
