Swapping damaged RCBO with different brand?

Because turning the dryer on was what caused the initial event. That plus its about 4th hand and about 15 years old.

Swapping damaged RCBO with different brand?

EFLImpudence sorry I didn't explain myself properly. I meant the RCBO full stop wasn't responding to being switched ON. The switch is permanently mechanically biased to OFF (I've removed the unit and still behaves in the same way). I'd done what you suggested TaylorTwoCities, disconnected all...

Swapping damaged RCBO with different brand?

The test button on it no longer trips it out nor does the device stay in the on position.

Swapping damaged RCBO with different brand?

Thanks guys. Currently working my way round checking to be sure but 99% it was as an old and faulty dryer.

Swapping damaged RCBO with different brand?

Thanks for the info endecotp. I planned on removing the old and taking it with me so I could compare the physical size of it. If by chance there happens to be one that is of similar enough size to fit (with the right spec), would that be considered ok?

Swapping damaged RCBO with different brand?

Hi all, One of my RCBOs failed today. The brand in my CU are all Hager. Current RCBO is a type B 32a 6kA with 30mA leakage protection. Nowhere local sells Hager and the specific model is discontinued anyway. Screwfix sell plenty of RCBOs with identical specifications, does it realy matter if...

Insulated lining paper - how to better hide the joins

Hi thanks for your help. Yes I agree horrible stuff definitely not in a rush to be using it again... That makes sense i will have a go at filling the joints with lightweight filler and if it looks awful will re line with normal lining paper.

Insulated lining paper - how to better hide the joins

Hi all, Recently hung some insulated lining paper on our external wall in the spare room. Its approx 4mm thick polystyrene-backed paper. Have never used this before and but the inevitable joins between the thick sections of wallpaper are quite visible. Does anyone have any ideas what I could...

    Spalled concrete - how bad?

Hi newboy. Yes I spent a long time working the finished surface because it didn't look quite right and with that all of the bleed water kept getting disturbed and moved around quite a bit so maybe it was that.

    Spalled concrete - how bad?

Hi all, So my newly laid concrete slab is now just over a week old. As with anything I often do when I give it a go for the first time I was nervous as you're never quite sure how it's going to end up!o_O Well no surprise my concrete mixing/finishing skills still need a lot of work because...

Concrete - To mist or not to mist?

Hi r896neo, Ok thanks this is starting to make more sense now. I might remove it today if it seems that no further heavy rain is likely to affect the curing process.

Concrete - To mist or not to mist?

Hi John, about the comment of trapped water weakening it, I was just going by what I'd seen written on the PavingExpert page. Half way down the section on "Curing" says: The simplest way to prevent the concrete drying out too quickly is to keep it damp. This can be achieved in various ways, but...

Concrete - To mist or not to mist?

Thanks. Was fairly happy with the mix and consistency - certainly don't think it was too dry. With regards to taking off the tarp, I was planning to leave at least 3 days till the worst of the weather has passed. Is that enough time for the cure to establish and not be susceptible to rain ?

Concrete - To mist or not to mist?

Concrete - To mist or not to mist?

Thanks newboy. I forgot to say its actually covered with tarp (but not touching the slab) because of the rain forecast this weekend. I didn't want it raining on the slab as I didn't think that would do it much good. Do you think I should leave it uncovered then if rain is imminent ?
